Bilateral trade between Vietnam and China ’s Guangxi province reportedly stood at US$1.5 billion in the first half of this year, said the Guangxi Customs Office, giving no on-year comparisons.

The figure accounted for 81.08 per cent of the two-way trade between Guangxi and the ASEAN bloc during the period, added the office.

China is among Vietnam ’s top trade partners. China buys up to 15 per cent of Vietnam ’s export goods, behind the U.S. with 20 per cent and the EU with 25 per cent.

Vietnam was estimated to run a trade deficit of US$5 billion with China in the first half of this year, said the Ministry of Industry and Trade.

Two-way trade between Vietnam and China is expected to hit US$25 billion by 2010.
