In March, 2010, negotiations for TPP began with 12 countries, including Australia, Brunei, Canada, Chile, Malaysia, Mexico, Japan, New Zealand, Peru, Singapore, United States and Vietnam.

Compared to agreements that Vietnam signed previously, TPP is considered as an agreement of a new generation with concrete commitments, up to 100% of tariff lines with different roadmaps. The countries have been working to complete negotiations in the next few months.
