Goods To Be VAT-Free in Separate Areas

(02/11/2010 10:10:00)

The Ministry of Finance recently promulgated Circular 149/2010/TT-BTC providing guidelines related to the value added tax (VAT) and customs management of the sale of goods and services in separate areas of international border-crossings, airports, seaports, roads, railways.

Accordingly, made-in-Vietnam goods and services and imported goods, which are sold in separate areas, will be VAT-free.

The circular indicates that those who sell goods in separate areas do not have to execute any customs formalities when they bring goods into or out of separate areas for sale. However, they have the responsibility to make a list of goods and services that are retailed everyday and a declaration of retail vouchers, which will be reported to customs authorities through a computer network that is connected to customs offices that manage their shops./.
